IGDIs is a universal preschool screener that is conducted three times a year (fall, winter, spring) for all students in our 4 year old program.  IGDIs focuses on 5 domains that can help predict early literacy skills in preschool-aged children. 

Early Reading Measures

• Picture Naming (Oral Language)
• Rhyming (Phonological Awareness)
• Sound Identification (Alphabet Knowledge)
• 'Which One Doesn't Belong?' (Comprehension)
• Alliteration (Phonological Awareness)

Tiger Tots uses the GOLD system to assess all children in our 4 year old program.  GOLD is a continuum measuring students from the ages of birth to third grade along 9 domains (social-emotional, language/communication, physical, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, social studies, science/technology, and the arts).  Teaching Strategies GOLD is research-based and used in both the Madrid Preschool Programs.  To find out more, please visit https://www.buffalo.edu/content/dam/www/ubccc/Documents/Teaching%20Strategies%20-%20GOLD-Touring-Guide_5-2013.pdf or talk with Mikaela.

Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs) are held two times a year: once in the fall and once in the spring.  This is an opportunity for you hear your child's progress and to learn more about what is going on in our classroom.  It is up to each family whether or not to bring their child to PTCs.  If you decide to bring your child to conferences, they will have the choice to sit and talk with us during the conference, or to play around the room.  Contact Mikaela for more information, or to schedule your conference.
